“let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed in pure water. Let us hold on to the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us be concerned about one another in order to promote love and good works, not staying away from our worship meetings, as some habitually do, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day drawing near.”Hebrews 10:22-25
God wants us near Him. From the beginning, He created us to fellowship with Him. When we, thru Adam and Eve, sinned, God pursued us. He first provided a temporary way to return to Him annually and when the time was right (Galations 4:4), He provided Jesus, Who paid the price of death for our sins, individually, on the cross, rose from the dead-deafeating death for us and sat down at God’s right hand to rule and reign as King forever.
Now, as the King, He invites us to DRAW NEAR to Him with the confidence of knowing that what He did on the cross for us was enough to bring us into good standing with Him and to keep us in good standing with Him!
According to this passage, we need to completely trust Him for our salvation and commit ourselves to each for encouraging each other to grow up into Him. We need to fellowship each other and not forsake gathering together to worship together. This doesn’t necessarily mean engaging in a formal church setting and it doesn’t mean dressing up and making a Old Testiment type law to follow about our church setting. It DOES MEAN to making a habit of engaging ourselves with the Body of Christ for the purposes of worshipping TOGETHER, studying God’s Word TOGETHER, praying TOGETHER and encouraging EACH OTHER’S growth in Christ! God says, “dont stay away” (or forsake-kjv) (vs. 25) and do this more often as we see His day (the “day of the Lord”, a term used repeatedly thru the OT describing the return of Christ) approching!
Think about it!
