“But as for me, Lord , my prayer to You is for a time of favor. In Your abundant, faithful love, God, answer me with Your sure salvation. Rescue me from the miry mud; don’t let me sink. Let me be rescued from those who hate me and from the deep waters. Don’t let the floodwaters sweep over me or the deep swallow me up; don’t let the Pit close its mouth over me. Answer me, Lord, for Your faithful love is good; in keeping with Your great compassion, turn to me. Don’t hide Your face from Your servant, for I am in distress. Answer me quickly!” Psalms 69:13-17
David was like many of us- he was in deep trouble in the circumstances of his life! His enemies were pursuing him, his men were both hungery and thirsty and he was homesick for Jerusalem, his home. David was very familiar with tense situations. He knew what hard times meant. HE ALSO knew what it meant to be rescued by God! Verse 1 here is awesome-He prays for a time of FAVOR! He asks in verse 2 that “In Your abundant, faithful love, God, answer me with Your sure salvation.” Look at the adjectives here, “abundant” means more than enough, “faithful” means sure and unshakable, while “sure” means something that can always be counted on. That’s what God’s love is like-its abundant, faithful and sure! David prays for God to RESCUE him from the circumstances he finds himself in. He asks that the tidawave of issues facing him and that the very mouth of hell not be allowed to swallow him up! He asks God not to ignore his requests and to answer him quickly. Do you know what God did? HE RESCUED DAVID EVERY SINGLE TIME!
Cry out to God today instead of trying to “tough things out” or working things out on your own. REALLY CRY OUY TO HIM FOR RESCUSE AND WATCH HIM WORK! He knows where you are. He sees your circumstances and HE LOVES YOU. Church or religion – it’s about Him! Think about it!
