“With Your hand, Lord , save me from men, from men of the world whose portion is in this life: You fill their bellies with what You have in store; their sons are satisfied, and they leave their surplus to their children. But I will see Your face in righteousness; when I awake, I will be satisfied with Your presence.”
Psalms 17:14-15
What are you grateful for? What fulfills you? This passage talks of two kinds of people. Group 1 is in verse 14. This group is temporary. The verse says they have “their portion in this life”. They have plenty-all supplied by God. They have enough for their kids to have enough, and its all from GOOD STUFF-STUFF SUPPLIED BY GOOD!
Group 2 is much smaller, from vs 15. This group seeks God’s face. This means they pursue God. They want to know Him personally, like a friend, and speak with Him like you would a friend. David is in this group. He says when he awakens, in other words day after day after day-consistantly-he will be satisfied WITH GOD’S PRESENCE!
Group 1 is satisfied with whst God gives them. Group 2 is safisfied with GOD’S PRESENCE-with GOD HIMSELF!
Matthew 6:33 says to “seek first the kingdom of God and His
righteousness and all these things (nessesary, yet temporary things) will be added unto you.”
Why not seek to KNOW GOD for Who He is, knowing He’ll always provide for you instead of seeking Him for what He provides for you, but missing out on what’s TRUELY SATISFYING-HIS PRESENCE? Think about it!
