“Praise be to the Lord God, the God of Israel, who alone does marvelous deeds. Praise be to his glorious name forever; may the whole earth be filled with his glory. Amen and Amen.”
Psalm 72:18-19Psalm 72, is the last of the Psalms of David, written for his son Solomon, his successor. Its also very prophetic of Jesus, the Everlasting King, who would come to earth as a baby in a manger some 600 years after the Psalm was written.
All through the Psalm are references that lead you to Jesus-for example:
Vs 4-May he defend the afflicted among the people and save the children of the needy; may he crush the oppressor.
Vs 5- May he endure as long as the sun, as long as the moon, through all generations.
Vs 8-May he rule from sea to sea and from the River to the ends of the earth.
Vs 9-May the desert tribes bow before him and his enemies lick the dust.
Vs 11-May all kings bow down to him and all nations serve him.
Vs. 12-For he will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help.
ALL OF THESE VERSES SOUND LIKE THE WORK OF JESUS, OUR KING!
But isn’t this what life is suppose to look like? As we walk on this earth, WE’RE suppose to reflect Jesus and literally BE HIS TANGIBLE BODY that reaches to the world!
All of this BECAUSE of and with the result of what we find in our focal verses: that God will be praised for His marvelous deeds and so that the whole earth is full of his glory!
We were created in God’s image to bring glory to Him! We should so represent Him that at the end of the day the line should be skewed between where we stop and Jesus starts! The world should be changed because we were here and because we brought Jesus into the situation with us!
Who are you representing today? Think about it!
