“How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord Almighty! My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord ; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young— a place near your altar, Lord Almighty, my King and my God. Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you. Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage. Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. Lord Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in you.”
Psalm 84:1-5, 10-12
The joy of being in God’s Presence is not a new thing. This Psalmist, a Son of Korah, had tasted this joy!
He writes about how awesome an experience it is to meet God in His tabernacle. Better yet, to live in His Presence (vs 10). Korah’s son goes on to describe this position. Phrases and thoughts like my soul thirsts for God, my whole soul and body long and cry out for God-the Living God, even the sparrow nests in Your Presence, blessed are those who dwell in Your house, blessed are those who find strength in You . . .show this man’s passion for living in God’s Presence. He accentuates his point by saying he’d rather be a servant (slave) in God’s house than to dwell in wickedness!
Here’s the good news . . Jesus gave His life to reconcile us to God so that we could become God’s dwelling place, literally His HOUSE! If we are Jesus followers, Holy Spirit lives in us 24-7. If this is the case, we dwell constantly in God’s Presence because we ARE GOD’S HOUSE!
IS GOD IN THE HOUSE TODAY?
Think about it!
