“As soon as Judas left the room, Jesus said, “The time has come for the Son of Man to enter into his glory, and God will be glorified because of him. And since God receives glory because of the Son, he will give his own glory to the Son, and he will do so at once. Dear children, I will be with you only a little longer. And as I told the Jewish leaders, you will search for me, but you can’t come where I am going.”
John 13:31-33
Jesus continued preparing His disciples for the coming days. After Judas headed out into the night to betray Him, Jesus said to the others, “the time has come-I will bring glory you the Father and He will glorify Me”.
Most of Jesus’ disciples believed by now that He was the Messiah–God in the flesh, but what Jesus knew that they didn’t was the road to His glorification. Most kings are coronated –Jesus’ crown would be one of thorns. Most wear a royal robe–Jesus’ was stained with blood. No, Jesus’ glory was to finish the work of reconciliating us as peoplepeople, to God. For Him, this meant taking the punishment for the sin that separates us from God on the cross. His Kingly glory came thru the cross. God’s Kingly glory came thru Jesus’ obdeience to Him. Both recieved glory by being reconciled back to the relationship we as people, enjoyed with God in the Garden of Eden. In short, God’s glory and heritage is YOU (Eph 1:18)!!!
So Jesus tells His disciples, “I will be with you only a little longer. And as I told the Jewish leaders, you will search for me, but you can’t come where I am going,” referring to John 8:21.
Jesus was leaving them for heaven, after complementing His mission, but He would never forsake them because He was sending Holy Spirit, the very Spirit of God, in His place!
Jesus is and was glorified, but it came with a very high price. His doing so, however, was highly beneficial for us. Thank Him for His goodness and love for us today!
Think about it!
