“Jesus replied, “My light will shine for you just a little longer. Walk in the light while you can, so the darkness will not overtake you. Those who walk in the darkness cannot see where they are going. Put your trust in the light while there is still time; then you will become children of the light.” After saying these things,
Jesus went away and was hidden from them.”
John 12:35-36
So, in response to the people questioning Jesus about His statement that indicated the death that He would die (vs 33) on His way to bring glorified (vs 23), Jesus cautions them to hurry! He says to them, “My light will shine for you just a little longer. Walk in the light while you can, so the darkness will not overtake you. Those who walk in the darkness cannot see where they are going. He says to them, “My light will shine for you just a little longer.” Like a parent hurrying a child to get home before dark, Jesus encourages these people to “walk in the light while you can, so the darkness will not overtake you” (vs 35). Jesus brought light into a dark world & He was telling them to walk (live, stay) in the light. Take advantage of having light while it’s still here! He further commented, “Those who walk in the darkness cannot see where they are going.”
Jesus then gave them the best advice ever about hurrying-He said, “Put your trust in the light while there is still time; then you will become children of the light.” ACT WHILE THERE’S STILL TIME! We should take this same advice because we also may not have all the time in the world. Sadly, we may actually have LITTLE time! Like vs 36 states, “after saying these things, Jesus went away and was hidden from them,” our oppotunities for faith might be slipping away. As it said, “After saying these things, Jesus went away & was hidden from them.”
To know Jesus is to experience no more hell than what we experience here on earth–to miss knowing Him means means to know no more heaven that what you’ve had on earth! Its your choice!
Think About It!
