“Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.”
Ephesians 4:15-16
So Paul has been writing to the Ephesians about living a life worthy of their calling to grace and of how they have been given a specific role or “gift” that benefits the rest of the Church, Jesus’ Body, and helps it to grow up strong, healthy and unshakeable in a world where satan likes to try to destroy the church by decieving her. So instead of believing the devil’s lies, Paul wants to develop kind and truthful (truth-filled) Christ followers that “speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, Who is the Head of His Body, the Church”. He wants us to grow up strong! He wants us to grow up and speak truthfully, yet lovingly to each other! He wants us to grow up in every way, to be like Christ, Who Heads this Body of believers called the Church! GROW UP LIKE JESUS!
JESUS makes whole body fit together perfectly! A body part disconnected with the rest of the body is dead! A body improperly assembled is handicapped and can’t function properly! He wants us to grow up inti Christ so each part can do “its own special work”. Ears hear, eyes see, noses smell! Body parts are not interchangeable-each are created with value and purpose! In Christ’s Body, each part should help “the other parts grow”! We as members of Christ’s Body are not independant of each other, we’re interdependant on each other.
Paul advises this “so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.” As Christ’s Body, we must work together for the health of the whole body! This is neccessary if the Body is going to grow and be healthy. This is neccessary if the Body is to be whole or complete! This is neccessary if the Body is going to love and reach the world!
You, as part of the Body are necessary. You’re important. You bring gifts, talent and abilities, no one else brings!
Think about it!
