In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. All things were created through Him, and apart from Him not one thing was created that has been created. Life was in Him, and that life was the light of men. That light shines in the darkness, yet the darkness did not overcome it.
John 1:1‭-‬5
We’ve established that Jesus is the “Word” or the written expression of God of and from Himself. We’ve established that He, Jesus, the Word was and always has been with God and created right along eith God. We’ve established that Jesus, the Word IS GOD! We’ve established that that God, thru Jesus, became a human being, came to earth to live among us and successfully reconciled us to Himself!
Soooo, we come to verse 4-5: “Life was in Him, and that life was the light of men. That light shines in the darkness, yet the darkness did not overcome it.”
Jesus is the very essance of LIFE. I believe that when God created mankind and “breathed into Him the breath of life and man became a living soul” (Genesis 2:7) that He breathed eternity into us (Eccesiasties 3:11). JESUS EMBODIED THAT LIFE! Everyone’s looking for life!

That “LIFE was LIGHT of man.”

Jesus created light (Gen 1:3). Jesus said of Himself, “I Am the Light of the world” (John 8:12). Vs. 5 said that the LIGHT shined into the darkness but could not be OVERWHELMED by the darkness. LIGHT ALWAYS EXPELS DARKNESS! Walk in the LIGHT of Jesus! Think about it!
