“The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer, my God, my mountain where I seek refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I called to the Lord , who is worthy of praise, and I was saved from my enemies.” Psalms 18:2-3
If you were to go through your day only focused on the negitive, difficult atrocities that happen to people, some whom we know, some whom we don’t and sometimes even to us, ourselves, it would be maddening! So much difficulty, so much pain and some of it even self-inflicted! Thankfully, we can cry out to God instead! The Psalm writer here, clearly states his confidence in God: my Rock, my Fortress, my Deliverer, my God, my Mountain, my Refuse, my Shield, my Salvation, my Stronghold! All very attributing to God’s desire to save us yet all very personal in the knowledge that He HAS saved me in the past and WILL CONTINUE to save me in the future! Then the proclaimation: “I called to the Lord , who is worthy of praise, and I was saved from my enemies.” I called to this personal God and HE SAVED ME! David, King and song writer, had had MANY enemies. He spent time running from King Saul, whom he succeeded. He had to run from his own son who was trying to kill him in an effort to succeed him. He had spent many nights away from home, both as a sheep herder and as a king, and here are his simple conclusions: 1. God is worthy of my praise. He’s saved me in too many ways to count, SO, I will call out or cry out to Him and 2. He will save me, as He has in the past! David had great confidence in God because he had many close calls WITH God at His side defending him! DAVID HAD ABSOLUTE CONFIDENCE IN GOD and so can we! He’s NEVER failed and He NEVER will! Cry out to Him today, sharing with Him your deepest sorrows and needs and WATCH HIM WORK! Think about it!
