TAKE 5-SEPTEMBER 10, 2016

“In my distress I called to the Lord , and He answered me. “ Lord , deliver me from lying lips and a deceitful tongue.”

Psalms 120:1-2

Even when I’m gossiped about and lied about, wrore David, I can cry out to God and expect to be delivered! Has happened frequently in his life, King David had an adversary, disguised as a friend, who was spreading rumors about him and telling lies on him. In David’s case, it was not necessarily that he had this particular thing happened to him all the time – it was just that he had things like this happen to him all the time. Betrayed by his friends – pursued by his family in order to kill him- just things like that that happened to him constantly. Yes, he was a great king. As the king he pushed the nation of Israel to be the most powerful country on the Earth at that time. Of course God’s enemy, the devil doesn’t want that , as Israel is and was God’s chosen people. David was also a great military leader. Naturally,  someone in that position would have enemies. Most of all , David was a man after God’s Own Heart. He knew the heart of God. He wanted for his people what God wanted. David felt the heart of God. But the thing that was the most dangerous to the devil, the father of all lies (John 8:44),  was the fact that David was a man who worship God. Even in the Psalms where David is crying out to God, David is worshipping God! David loved God! David sought to bring God’s Kingdom on the Earth! That made David a target  for God’s enemy.

I have to admit that most of the time when I have to cry out to God it’s because I’ve gotten myself into a pickle. My poor choices , mistakes and miscalculations often get me in trouble. I have to ask myself why I’m in a position that I need to cry out to God. Have I got myself into a jam or am I a danger to the devil?

Now here’s the fantastic news – it doesn’t matter! God wants to hear and answer my cry! God wants me to call out to Him first! He wants me to call out to Him frequently! He wants me to call out to Him whether I’m in trouble or not! GOD WANTS TO FELLOWSHIP WITH ME AND YOU TOO! Think about it!
