“Hear this! The days are coming — this is the declaration of the Lord God — when I will send a famine through the land: not a famine of bread or a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord . People will stagger from sea to sea and roam from north to east, seeking the word of the Lord , but they will not find it.” Amos 8:11-12
WHAT AN INCREDIBLE DAY! We live in an instant day when it comes to media. If what I want to watch won’t load within 30 seconds, I close my device and call the internet provider.
Not so in the day of Amos! Even worse, Amos predicted that a day would cime when hearing God’s word would be impossible! Remember, in that day most people couldn’t read and usually only one copy of any given book was available in any given town because parchments were hand copied. SO, with that in mind, Amos said that readers would stop reading publically, preachers would stop preaching and prophets would stop prophecying! This pridiction came true between the old and new testaments, when no word from God was given!
But what about today? We have any translation of Scripture and any preacher or teacher that we want to hear at our istant disposal, but what if, one day, all of that availability suddenly STOPPED?
What if church became illegal or sensored-what would life look like? Would you dare to be God’s mouthpiece?
Think about it!
