“But the Jews became jealous, and they brought together some scoundrels from the marketplace, formed a mob, and started a riot in the city. Attacking Jason’s house, they searched for them to bring them out to the public assembly.  When they did not find them, they dragged Jason and some of the brothers before the city officials, shouting, “These men who have turned the world upside down have come here too, and Jason has received them as guests! They are all acting contrary to Caesar’s decrees, saying that there is another king — Jesus! ”     Acts 17:5-7

Paul and Silas had been traveling thru Europe and the Grecian provinces when they came to Thessalonica. There, as always, Paul went to the local synagogue to find people who already worshipped Yahweh. As he began telling the story of the Promised Messiah, of Jesus’ coming, living, being crucified and rising from the dead, some people believed, but other traditonal Jewish people became angry. They found some shady people, started a riot and went to Paul and Silas’ host,  Jason’s house, looking for them. When they didn’t find them, they dragged Jason and some of the new believers downtown to the public square to the leading city officials. There they accused Paul and Silas of  “turning the world upside down” and Jason of hosting them, and worst of all that they (Paul and Silas), proclaim that Jesus is the King, which was treason against Ceasar. At the end of the day, the charges were dropped and Paul and company were all released, but here’s the deal-PAUL AND SILAS (along with Timothy-vs 16:1), WERE ACCUSSED OF TURNING THEIR WORLD UPSIDEDOWN! The presence of these men in these Grecian provinces had ACTUALLY CHANGED THINGS!

In version of the great commision-Mark 16:15-18,  Jesus tells the diciples, that miraculous things should happen wherever they go-life should be stirred up! Are we turning our world UPSIDE DOWN with the news of Jesus today? Think about it!
