” The Lord will give you meager bread and water during oppression, but your Teacher will not hide Himself any longer. Your eyes will see your Teacher, and whenever you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear this command behind you: “This is the way. Walk in it.”
Isaiah 30:20-21
The Nation of Israel had sinned and were in Babylonian exile. The beginning of this verse sounds bleak but the truth was that things were going to get better! God was promising to give Himself to Israel. He would be their God – they would be His people. But within these verses He is also promising the new life that we have in Christ!Though at this time their diet may have been meager – perhaps bread and water, better days are coming! The promise here is that God , Himself , through the Presence of the Holy Spirit , would be their Teacher! He would be a Teacher who would be with them – “on the job,” as The Message Bible puts it – to correct them and to keep them from sin! The Bible says that He would be so close that He would help them not to step off the path that God had laid before them, neither to the left nor the right. Here, He is called the Teacher and in the New Testament He is called our Guide!
Bottom line-God is promised to live in us and will, through the Presence of the Holy Spirit. He will remind us “this is the way- walk in it! Think about it!
