“Give us aid against the enemy, for human help is worthless. With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies.”Psalm 60:11‭-‬12

One of my favorite lines from the movies and television series that I grew up watching was from Star Trek, always when the Klingons were trying to invade the ship, a planet or colony: “resistance is futile!” The Klingons were so intellegent and powerful that they were seemingly undefeatable, although veiwers could count on Capitan Kirk to come thru with only 6 minutes left in any given episode!

In Psalm 60, God’s people are calling out for Him to give them assistance from their attacking enemy. They had discovered, as stated in verse 11 that human assistance is worthless and that victory is only gained thru the help of our God (vs 12)!

The same is true in our lives. Ultimately, in our lives (just like in the Hebrew’s lives of these verses), our battle is not against flesh and blood but ultimately against the devil himself, who’s only goal is to steal, kill and destroy mankind (Ephesians 6:12 & John 10:10)! Resistance on our own, outside the power of the cross and the blood and Name of Jesus and without Holy Spirit IS FUTILE! BUT WITH GOD “we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies”! (vs 12)

If you’re trying to outrun the schemes of the devil by yourself and live morally enough, sinless enough and good enough to get to heaven on your own, how’s that working out for you? BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF! Your sure-shot at victory is thru JESUS, Who’s ALREADY WON! It’s CHRIST IN ME that is my hope of glory! (Colossians 1:27) WHAT’S YOURS?
