“You give him blessings forever; You cheer him with joy in Your presence. For the king relies on the Lord ; through the faithful love of the Most High he is not shaken.”
Psalms 21:6-7
Psalm 21 is like David the Kings personal testimony-its written from the perspective of the king. Written by David himself to God, he talks of how he finds joy in God and how God gives him his hearts desires. He talks of God giving him His blessings-FOREVER, and of how David is cheered and finds joy in God’s presence. David then says something that we often don’t see as worship, but that Ive found to be one of the most freeing and most powerful acts of worship-David, the most powerful man on earth, states his need for and dependance on God!
When we refocus our attention from what we can do and take the humbling position of recognizing God’sgreat power THRU us, God begins to move mightily through us to show up and show out for Himself!
Finally, in verse 7, David again takes the humble position and staes thts its “through the faithful love of the Most High” that he’s not shaken!
David attributed all that he was, all that he had and all that he, as king, had accomplished TO GOD! Its like Paul’s statement in Acts 17 that “for in Him we live and move and exist …”
The sooner that we realize God created us for relationship with Himself, that He is our Origin and our Source for life and worship God for this, the sooner we will find satisfaction, purpose and meaning in life. Never be ashamed, not even a “free and self-made Americans”, to proclaim your dependance upon God! Someone’s (quite possibly your’s) eternity depends on it! Think about it!
