“But I have trusted in Your faithful love; my heart will rejoice in Your deliverance. I will sing to the Lord because He has treated me generously.”
Psalms 13:5-6
Most of Psalm 13 is sad depressing. David is expressing his concern of what he seems to consider God’s cavalier approach to his concerns and circumstances. He, as usual, cries out to God, Who, as usual, saves him! Verse 5 starts with a “but”, contrasting it to verse 4, where David’s concerned his enemies might triumph over him. “But” I have trusted in Your faithful love. When you deliver me, my heart will take joy in it and ALREADY takes joy in it, even though it hasnt happened yet!
Then, even bigger faith is displayed on David’s part-he begins to SING to God! His reason for singing is because “God has (present tense) treated me GENEROUSLY”. David’s faith is so great because God has moved on his behalf so nany times that even though this time, he’s still in his circumstances, he’s STILL thanking God for His PRESENT generosity, KNOWING THAT GOD IS MOVING ON HIS BEHALF!
In what waa has God moved in your circumstances in the past? Maybe, if you choose to, you, like David will see that God has not abandoned you to deal with your own circumstances, but that He’s presently ACTIVE in your life, delivering you from what’s seeking to destroy you, just like He did for David! Sometimes faith is somply a matter of perspective! Think about it!
