Psalms 73:25‭-‬26‭, ‬28
“Who do I have in heaven but You? And I desire nothing on earth but You. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart, my portion forever. But as for me, God’s presence is my good. I have made the Lord God my refuge, so I can tell about all You do.”
In Psalm 73, Asaph talks of the goodness of God and how good He is to Israel, then he talks about the plight of the wicked and decietful. Finally, he asks a tender, yet haunting question of God . . . “Who in heaven do I have but You, Lord? I desire none on earth but You!”
Many times in life, we find ourselves searching for meaning, purpose, love and acceptance. Often, we tend to look in the wrong places. Our hunger for truth and meaning often finds us trying to quench our proverbial thirst or satisfy our inner hunger with, jobs, money, relationships, food, sex, alcohol and drugs. Even celebrities find themselves rich, famous& beautiful, yet despirately unhappy. In the words of Paul David Hewson, more commonly known as “Bono” from the rock group U2, expressed along with several other musicians and lyricists that I’ve scaled mountains, looked in citys, girls, money, fame, fortune, religion and even the devil but STILL HAVEN’T FOUND WHAT I’M LOOKING FOR! This is because what Bono and everyone else all over the earth is looking for is the love, acceptance, satisfaction and contentment that comes from a personal and infinite relationship with Jesus Christ.
Asaph expressed that in this Psalm. I, personally have found that as well!
He goes on to write, “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart, my portion forever. But as for me, God’s presence is my good. I have made the Lord God my refuge, so I can tell about all You do.”
God was the center of Asaph’s being. He knew Him personally and you can too, through Hos Son, Jesus Christ.
How about you? Have you truely found what you’re looking for?
Jesus is only a prayer away-call out to Him today! Thk about it!
