“The Lord reigns! He is robed in majesty; The Lord is robed, enveloped in strength. The world is firmly established; it cannot be shaken. Your throne has been established from the beginning; You are from eternity. The floods have lifted up, Lord , the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their pounding waves. Greater than the roar of many waters — the mighty breakers of the sea — the Lord on high is majestic. Lord , Your testimonies are completely reliable; holiness is the beauty of Your house for all the days to come.”
Psalms 93:1‭-‬5
David, the king of Israel, also authored Psalm 93. Many times during Israel’s history as well as David’s reign, enemies tried to destroy her. During what was probably one of those threatening times, Psalms 93 was written to remind God’s people of who is really the King.
“The Lord reigns”–not man! God us majestic and surrounded with strength. Because of this fact, He has the affairs of the world well in hand. All things are in His control!
Again, David affirms that God reigns-His throne, has been firmly established from the beginning-God has no beginning-He’s existed eternally and will continue to do so!
He then compares the power of God to the powerful waves on the ocean. He says God is “greater than the roar of many waters”.
Finally and most beautifully, David concluses with “Your testimonies are completely reliable; holiness is the beauty of Your house for all the days to come.” And how right he is-God’s testimony, His Word is completely reliable. He’s always true to His Word!
Holiness clothes Him with beauty, not too unlike a similar Psalm that says, “Oh, worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness!” (Psalms 96:9)
We can rest assured that no matter who is our earthly rulers and no matter what happens in our world that OUR GOD REIGNS! Worship Him in the beauty of His holiness! Think about it!
