“Your love, Lord , reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. Your righteousness is like the highest mountains, your justice like the great deep. You, Lord , preserve both people and animals. “How priceless is your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings. They feast on the abundance of your house; you give them drink from your river of delights. For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.”
Psalm 36:5-9
David lived most of his life in God’s presence, delighting in His goodness. He understood the love that God has for His creation and the forgiveness for sin that He offers each of us. He knew God as a Faithful Friend, Who had walked him through many storms in life.
In Psalm 35, David begins by describing the perimeter of God’s love and faithfulness . . .they reach to the heavens and stretch to the sky. Furthermore, he writes that God’s righteousness are like the mountains-majestic and beautiful and God’s justice is deep-like the oceans. This narritive sounds like that of the Apostle Paul’s, while describe the love of Christ in Romans 8!
David further describes God’s love as priceless, sustaining both mankind and animals! God is all things to all people-truely the Great I Am!
David further writes, “People take refuge in the shadow of your wings. They feast on the abundance of your house; you give them drink from your river of delights.” God is our refuge or hiding place-a place to be protected through the storms of life. He’s our abundance or excess, giving us not only our daily bread, but a daily feast, if we desire it, along with delightful drink from His pleasent presence, far more proverbially intoxicating than any strong drink the world has to offer!
He concludes this strain of his song by stating that ALL OF LIFE is sustained by the infinite supply of God’s life, flowing from God, Himself and with an endless supply of light, coming from the “Father of Lights” (James 1:17).
