“Praise the Lord . Give thanks to the Lord , for he is good; his love endures forever. Who can proclaim the mighty acts of the Lord or fully declare his praise? Blessed are those who act justly, who always do what is right. Remember me, Lord , when you show favor to your people, come to my aid when you save them, that I may enjoy the prosperity of your chosen ones, that I may share in the joy of your nation and join your inheritance in giving praise. Save us, Lord our God, and gather us from the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise. Praise be to the Lord , the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Let all the people say, “Amen!” Praise the Lord.”
Psalm 106:1‭-‬5‭, ‬47‭-‬48
Psalm 106 is an account of the goodness of God and His willingness to save. The writer says that God is good and His love endures forever. Then he asks, “who can proclaim God’s acts snd declair His praise”? The answer, those who have experienced it. Who had experienced it? God’s own people. The next 40 verses recite instances where Israel and sometimes just individuals had disobeyed God, calmity had come upon them, yet God had saved them time after time, not because of their goodness but because of His!
In the middle of this story, however, the writer asks God to remember him (singular-personally) when God shows favor to His people. In other words, he asks to be included in God’s favor and salvation snd that he might enjoy the benefits of having God’s favor and salvation. He asks to be “remembered” by God!
The write ends this psalm by praising God from “everlasting to everlasting”. In other words, he wants to give God glory until forever finds forever.
How do you veiw God today. Do you praise Him and at the same time, rely on His favor (we now call this grace)? Thank God that He favors us!
Think about it!
