“My heart, O God, is steadfast; I will sing and make music with all my soul. Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn. I will praise you, Lord , among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples. For great is your love, higher than the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth. With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies.”
Psalm 108:1-5, 13
Another psalm of David, Psalm 108 begins with “I will sing (make music) with all my heart.” David worshipped, praised and thanked God deliberately, consistantly, habitually and whole-heartedly. He sang to God, cried before God, applauded for God, raised his hands to God, played instruments for God, shouted to God, danced for God, laid prostrate before God . . . in every way possible, with everything within him, David worshipped God. David points out to God that he’s not ceased to do this all his life-thus his heart is steadfast towards God.
In vs 2, David says he will wake up the dawn (get up early) playing his instruments for God! Its a priority for him. He does this before he does anything else.
In vs 3 David says, “I will praise you, Lord , among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples.” David’s intent and practice was to, from his platform of King of Israel, praise God and to share God with the other nations of the world. Your platform and mine may not me as big as David’s, but our responsibility is the same . Have we faithfully (w/a steadfast heart) praised and shared God with our families, friends, at our workplaces . . .whatever our sphere of influance THERE?!? Why?
“For great is your love, higher than the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies (vs 4).” Why?!? BECAUSE HE LOVES US AND LOVES THEM!
In vs 5, David exclaims, “Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth.”
David ends his psalm with, “With (our) God we will gain the victory and He will trample down our enemies.”
This seems a little strange, but let me explain. Do you want to win the battles in your life? The Bible is very clear that our battle’s NOT against others or our physical citcumstanes, but against the devil himself. Check it out from Eph. 6:12, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
So do you want to win the battles in your life? Than WORSHIP AND PRAISE GOD, OUT LOUD, ALL THE TIME, IN FRONT OF THOSE WE INFLUENCE.
PRAISE AND WORSHIP SENDS THE DEVIL RUNNING IN FEAR OF THE POWER IN JESUS’ NAME!
Think about it! (Might wanna sing about it too!)
