Galatians 1:6 & 9 “I am amazed that you are so quickly turning away from Him who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel, As we have said before, I now say again: If anyone preaches to you a gospel contrary to what you received, a curse be on him!”
TAKEN IN THE CONTEXT OF THE WHOLE BOOK OF GALATIANS, what Paul is saying here is, “are you willing to forsake grace in trade for works”? Earning your salvation by doing good works is the “another or different gospel” that Paul was condemning here. Grace is Jesus doing the necessary work that’s required for our salvation–works like being the sacrifice for our sin by dying in the cross, rising from the grave – openly displaying His defeat of death and the fear of death, and sitting down on His throne in heaven to reign forever as the King of His Kingdom! He’s done all the work necessarily for salvation already, we just have to believe that He’s enough and accept that! So the Galatians had evidently started trying to earn their already bought and paid for salvation! Working for salvation–working-trying to earn heaven by my good deeds outweighing my bad deeds is a “works salvation”. Here Paul calls it”another gospel”.
To me, it’s very simple-Jesus said He’s the way, truth and life-the ONLY way of salvation. “Another gospel”, a false gospel says you must earn your own way! The book of Acts says that all who call on the name of the Lord will be saved–“another gospel” says my God works must outweigh my bad to make it to heaven. Have you forsaken the real gospel to embrace a false one? Don’t follow, or better said, FALL FOR another gospel! JESUS IS ENOUGH!
Think about it!
