“Now I know that the Lord gives victory to His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven with mighty victories from His right hand. Some take pride in chariots, and others in horses, but we take pride in the name of Yahweh our God. They collapse and fall, but we rise and stand firm. Lord , give victory to the king! May He answer us on the day that we call.” Psalms 20:6-9
Psalm 20 is a Psalm of blessing. In every verse, the Psalmist speaks blessings and life upon the readers and hearers. The Psalmist declares that God gives victory to His anointed! To them, that meant the king, but to us it means US, because God’s Spirit now lives in each of us who receive Jesus as our Savoir! The verse promises that God will answer from heaven with mighty victories from His right hand! The writer goes on to declare that some take pride in or trust in chariots and some in horses. That would be like us taking pride and trusting in our advanced weaponry and military tactics. He finishes the verse, by declaring that WE will trust in the Name of the Lord our God! While those who trust in their man-made power are FALLING, we, who trust in the Name of Yahweh are RISING! The writer further says, may God give victory to the king–God’s anointed from the previous verse, and may He answer us on the day that we call!
God gives us a choice daily, to trust Him and to live in His Life and Blessings and to adopt that as our vocabulary, or to live in death and darkness and speak that (Dueteronomy 30:15-20). What will you choose? Who will you trust in? I will trust in the Name of the Lord my God!
Think about it!
