“In a little while the world will see Me no longer, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live too. In that day you will know that I am in My Father, you are in Me, and I am in you.”
John 14:19-20
Jesus tells His disciples again that He’s going away. This time though, on the surface, His explaination seems a little strange! Though He’s said similar things to this earlier in this chapter, like “I’m going to prepare a place for you, then will come again for you” (vss 1-3) Now He says, “In a little while the world will see Me no longer, but you will see Me.” Okay, “I’m going away to prepare a place, the world will see Me no longer, but you’ll see Me”–WHAT? At surface value, it doesn’t make sense! But think about it–He’s ALSO promised these disciples the Holy Spitit (vss16-18), Who makes all the difference in the world! They would continue “seeing” Him, though He’s not physically present, the same way He’d continued “seeing” God the Father, doing HIS work, accomplishing HIS will and being One with Him–by the SPIRIT OF GOD! In THAT SAME WAY, we can see HIM! Kinda cool to be invited into GOD’S conversation!
Furthermore, He says, “Because I live, you will live too”! Okay, maybe they’d have to wait 3 days to really even partially understand that He really was going to die BUT be raised to life again, but as they lived out their faith, they’d begin to understand fully that their Christain lives (and ours) are ONLY made possible because He rose from the dead and that we rose to life IN HIM! (Eph 2:1-6)
Christ offers us life that’s full of peace and hope. While life doesn’t become perfect because we follow Him, life does become full! Our constant Companion, Holy Spirit, gives us life that’s full of freindship with Jesus.
If peace, hope, purpose and companionship is what you’d like to have, come to Jesus today! All of the above are found in Him!
Think about it!
