“The one who has My commands and keeps them is the one who loves Me. And the one who loves Me will be loved by My Father. I also will love him and will reveal Myself to him.”
John 14:21
Jesus again indicated that those who keep His commandants- the first being to love God with your whole heart and the second to love and serve one another-are those who truely live Him!
Who and what we love is obvious to someone who looks and listens. It’s what we talk about and spend our money on. Billy Graham once said, “Give me five minutes with a person’s checkbook, and I will tell you where their heart is.” This is true-what we spend our money on indicates who and what we love!
Jesus says furthermore, that those who love Him will be loved by His Father! Now this doesn’t diminish the fact that God loves everyone. In this context thou, He’s saying the Father loves, invests in, supports, protects and provide for those who respond to His love and who freely give themselves to Him.
Lastly, Jesus says He will “love him and will reveal Myself to him”, speaking of those disciples or Christ followers who demonstrate true love for Him-those who keep His commandments. Jesus making Himself known and revealing Himself-His will, His character, His very personality-to those who love and follow Him! This makes me want to say with the Apostle Paul, “My goal is to know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death…” Phil.3:10
It starts with loving Him by loving and serving God and others!
Think about it!
