“As the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you. Remain in My love. If you keep My commands you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commands and remain in His love. “I have spoken these things to you so that My joy may be in you and your joy may be complete.” John 15:9-11
Jesus continually reminded His disciples that He ALWAYS and ONLY did or said what God, the Father did or said. In other words, He exactly did the Father’s will! Here He broadens this concept, saying that He had loved them as the Father loved them! They were encouraged to stay in that love and live in that love the way He had said to remain or stay attached to Him (vss 5-7).
Remaining in Him as well as in His and the Father’s love is a daily choice! God is a Good God and we are invited throughout scriptire to partake of His goodness. For example, Psalm 34:8 tells us to “Taste and see that the Lord is good.” Tasting something means taking it into yourself!
Our enemy, the devil loves nothing more than deceiving us into doubting God’s goodness. Such doubt opens the door to satan’s ability to attach us and further decieve us. No matter how bad things become in life, celebrating God’s love for us and goodness towards us leads to overcoming life’s adversities!
Jesus continues explaining that to keep His commandments is to remain in His love. Simultaneously, His commandment is to love God supremely and to love others as ourselves!
Finally, Jesus says “I have spoken these things to you so that My joy may be in you and your joy may be complete!” God WANTS us to be JOY- FILLED people! While happiness is dependent upon what’s “happening” to us or our surroundings, joy is based on God’s Presence WITHIN us! Joyful living and understanding that God, our Father LOVES us and DEMONSTRATES His love for us through Jesus, go hand-in-hand!
Spend some time thinking about How God shows His love for you today! It will turn your world upside down!
Think about it!
