TAKE 5–NOVEMBER 28, 2017

“They would not be guilty if I had not come and spoken to them. But now they have no excuse for their sin. Anyone who hates me also hates my Father. If I hadn’t done such miraculous signs among them that no one else could do, they would not be guilty. But as it is, they have seen everything I did, yet they still hate me and my Father. This fulfills what is written in their Scriptures : ‘They hated me without cause.’”John 15:22‭-‬25

There’s an old saying- “ignorance is bliss”! The gist of this is that not knowing something sometimes surpasses the responsibility of knowing! What Jesus was saying here was that if He had not come into the world as God in a “man-suit”, the world would not be as guilty for their sin. As it is however, they now KNOW that God’s reached out to them, they KNOW that He loves them and they KNOW that He expects them to love one another as He’s loved them! Would it be better for the world to NOT KNOW GOD? Absolutely not! It’s better that He’s shown Himself to us and BEST if we choose to FOLLOW Him! AND, in Jesus’ words, “now they (we) have no excuse for their sin”. WE KNOW the Answer-His Name is Jesus!

Jesus again makes it clear-“Anyone who hates me also hates my Father.” This is one of the themes of John 15, & the whole book of John, in that how we recieve Jesus, accept Jesus, obey Jesus, will reflect our attitude towards God the Father! Here, the world shows its distain for the Father when it hates Jesus! Jesus has plainly shown the heart of the Father! Jesus says plainly here, “If I hadn’t done such miraculous signs among them… they would not be guilty. But as it is, they have seen everything I did, yet they still hate me and my Father.” Their (namely the 1st century religious leaders-but us as well) hatred of Jesus only revealed their true attitude towards God!

All of this proved the Old Testament right that said, Jesus (God) would be hated without a cause (Ps 35:19)
What’s your attitude towards Jesus today?

Think about it!
