“Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

Jeremiah 29:13 says, “If you look for Me wholeheartedly, you will find Me.” What an awesome promise! And coupled with the type of prayer and seeking God that God was talking to Solomon about in our feature verse, God’s people here where sure to encounter Him! An encounter with God changes things! Hanging out with a Perfect God exposes our own imperfections! This type of encounter makes it almost impossible to leave unchanged-we generally turn TOWARDS or AWAY from God! In this verse, God’s expectation is that His people not only humble themselves, pray and seek Him, but also that they TURN AWAY from their own evil! In the Bible we call this repentance! God is saying here that this turning away from evil and towards Him is essential to His response of hearing, forgiving & healing!

Every single human being is plagued with the sickness of sin. We don’t have to teach our kids to sin, they come doing very naturally! Romans 3:23 says that ALL of us have sinned and fall short of God’s glory. The bad news us that because of sin, we all have an appointment with death (Romans 6:23, Hebrews 9:27) The excellent Good News is that eternal salvation is offered to all who receive Jesus& the Gift of eternal life offered each one of us because of Jesus’ death on the cross and rising from the dead! When we cry out to God, giving Him our lives and thanking Him for winning our eternal life by rising from the dead for us, He indeed, hears our prayers, forgives our sins and heals us, just like He promised Solomon He would do!

Pray today! Lay down your own thoughts about how God runs His universe & about how that’s personally affected you, and embrace Him, trust Him and turn TOWARDS Him. He will hear, He will forgive & He will heal.
