“All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.”

Ephesians 1:3

Paul continues his letter to the Ephesian Christians by giving glory to God! Throughout human history, when God is acknowledge and praise as our Creator, Sustainer and Giver of Life, all of our other affairs and needs fall into place! We read in Isaiah that the angles (saraphim) encircle God’a throne saying/singing,
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Heaven’s Armies! The whole earth is filled with his glory!”

Isaiah 6:3 We find a similar scene in Revelation 4, in a future picture of us gathered together in heaven’s throne room. What an incredibly awesome God we serve who deserves every creator on Earth’s adoration and worship!
Paul includes Jesus in His acknowledgement of God as he calls Him the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Whom this letter is all about! In order to truely know Christ, it’s impairitive that we recognize Jesus’ relationship to Him. Jesus is the Second Person of the Trinity of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. While He is One God, He functions in multiple roles. While this concept is mind- blowing to us, a simple break down may be to think about someone who has multiple roles in life. I’m a Christian, a wife, a mom to 4 awesome boys and a band director at school. While at school, my hubby, who also works at school, might walk up and call me “honey” and my boys might call me “mom”, even though while at school, my title is “Mrs Bear”. What you call me is based on your relationship to me, and so it is with God! He is Supreme and over all! While He’s the Creator of all, He’s the Father Figure of our Brother Figure, Jesus and if we know Him personally, He’s resides in us as the Holy Spirit! Like Paul, we praise Him!

Why? Because God “has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ”.

What a powerful thought: everything that God has created for us and everuthing that awaits us in Heaven is already our’s because of Who Jesus is and because of what He did for us on the cross! He has richly blessed us! He’s blessed us with every possible spiritual blessing! He’s blessed us by uniting us to Jesus and thus to Himself for the remainder of eternity, which is FOREVER! He has given us everything God has to give! That’s amazing!
