“He brought this Good News of peace to you Gentiles who were far away from him, and peace to the Jews who were near. Now all of us can come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us.”

Ephesians 2:17‭-‬18

Here is the essence of the good news of the Gospel that Pauls’s be telling the Ephesians: Jesus brought Good News to both Jews who, as God’s people, were closer to God and Gentiles (non Jews), some of which knew nothing of God, alike! “Now all of us can come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us”!

Sometimes, I don’t think we realize and appreciate what Jesus accomplished for us on the cross! He not only paid our sin debt and bought our salvation with His own blood, but He leveled the playing field in terms of who could approach God!

In the Old Testament, only certain priests, who had gone thru complicated ceremonial cleaning rituals could enter into certain parts of the temple or tabernacle on only certain times of the year and be near God. The rest of Israel and the world could only come thru them! This process showed us how holy God is and what an extrodinary privilage it is to enter His Presence, how far away from God sin has carried us and how vital and difficult it is for us to return. But now, because of Jesus, we have been reunited with God because of the high price Jesus paid for us on the cross and we, ourselves, for ourselves, have 24/7 access to the same holy God because we are in Christ and He lives in God’s Presence always! All we have to do is come! Hebrews 4:16 says, “So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.”

God is the Creator and King of the universe and thru Jesus, we are His kids! Kids come in and talk to their Father the King, whenever they want to and need to and so can we, all because of Jesus!
