“Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.” Ephesians 4:1
So based on everything Paul has said to the Ephesians (about how Jesus suffered and died for our sin, was raised from the dead, seated at the right hand of God, us with and in Him, thus GIVING THEM GRACE), prayed for the Ephesians and suffered for the Ephesians, Paul says (based on these things), “I beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling”!
Paul had earned the right to speak into their lives and Jesus surely had! A very high price had been paid to provide forgiving grace for them and a high price had been paid to bring them the knowledge of such grace, SO, now Paul’s asking them to WALK IN GRACE, by living in a way that now glorifies, magnifies and points others to Jesus- a life worthy of Him!
Is Paul asking them to be perfect and keep the Ten Commandments? No, Israel had already tried that and failed, falling short of God’s requirements for salvation (Romans 3:23)! No, he’s asking them (and us) to live a life that’s demonitrive of the grace given them!
Had forgiveness been given to them? Yes! Did they have to earn it? No! Did God hold their past sins over their heads? No! Should they live in gratitude because of that ?Absolutely! Should they/we look down on others who have not discovered or experianced His grace yet? NO, WE SHOULD EXTEND IT!
It’s funny how sometimes we want to enjoy God’s grace without extending it!
THEREFORE (always look to see what the “therefore” is there for-cheesy, I know), live as an extension of God’s grace! Be grateful for it by acknowledging and recognizing God in all you do! Extend it-offer it to others and extend forgiveness to others, the same way its been extended to you!
MODEL GRACE & walk worthy of it!
Think about it!
