“I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul will make its boast in the Lord ; The humble will hear it and rejoice. O magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together. O taste and see that the Lord is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him! The young lions do lack and suffer hunger; But they who seek the Lord shall not be in want of any good thing.”
Psalms 34:1-3, 8, 10
Psalm 34 is one of David’s “declairations for life”, & we should adopt it too!
David say, “I will bless or praise & Lord at ALL times and His praise shall CONTINUALLY be in my mouth”. David decided ahead of time, no matter what comes, I’m going to worship & praise God! I Thess 5:18 teaches us to give thanks in everything for this is God’s will. Many wonder through life looking for God’s will for them, yet here it is in black & white!
Next, David says, “my boast will be in the Lord-the humble will hear it & be glad”. The Bible repeatedly warns us of the dangers of being proud, arrogant & of attributing our own sucesses to ourselves, rather than to our Lord. David (King David) says he will boast in God just like the Apostle Paul says he will boast in the cross. (Gal.6:14) God is responsible for the good in our lives, even our capacity to choose good for ourselves!
Next, David invites us to exalt & magnify the Name of the Lord along with him & together with him.
Lastly, David again invites us to taste or sample the goodness of God. That taste can lead to a dependance on God that not only guarantees satisfaction, but insures provision for all of our needs, & even our desires, just as our God provides for the simple needs of the animals (in this case young lions).
Now if David, the most sucessful, most powerful man in the world at that time, found himself needing God, how could we be so arrogant to think that we don’t? My advice is like David’s, simply taste & see if God isn’t good. I promise you He is!
Thk about it!
