“He made the moon to mark the festivals; the sun knows when to set.
You bring darkness, and it becomes night, when all the forest animals stir.
The young lions roar for their prey and seek their food from God.
The sun rises; they go back and lie down in their dens.
Man goes out to his work and to his labor until evening.” Psalm 104:19-23
In addition to understanding the greatness of God, as shown in His creation, David understood the importance of nature being in the balance, ecologically speaking. He also understood how the sun and moon marks days, nights, months, years, seasons, festivals and lifetimes.
Daytime or the sun arising marks the time that mankind arises to perform his work. Nighttime or the moon signals that mankind sleeps and the nocturnal creatures come out to hunt.
Each sequence of sunrises and moon cycles mark not only days, but weeks, months, years and seasons.
God, in His wisdom, anticipated our need for routine and structure. He also anticipated the needs of all the people, animals, plants and seasons, that are, by nature, interdependent upon each other to maintain the balance of the planet. Any abnormality in this balance could have catastrophic
consequences! Nothing escapes His notice and nothing is beyond His ability to repair. He made it and He can fix it!
David gave honor to such and Wonderful God and so should we!
Think about it!
