“Know that the Lord has set apart the faithful for Himself; the Lord will hear when I call to Him. Be angry and do not sin; on your bed, reflect in your heart and be still. Selah. I will both lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone, Lord , make me live in safety.”
Psalms 4:3-5, 7-8
Psalm 4 is called a “Night Song” and it was written by David.
David reminds himself that God will surely hear him when he prays because God always sets the faithful apart for Himself. David takes comfort in this and we can too!
David tells himself, that even if he is angry-he doesn’t have to sin! We can take this advice as well. It’s ok to be angry – it’s ok to feel what we feel. It’s not ok to sin as a result! It’s very, very ok to take those raw emotions to God and download them there! For our owe sake, it’s not good to habor them, nurse them or cling to them! Let them go at the foot of the cross!
David finishes the psalm/song by saying I will both lie down and sleep in peace, for you God, are with me. You will cause me to live in safety , you will protect me and you will keep me! WE ALSO HAVE THESE BENEFITS, SO UNLOAD YOUR ANGER AND REST!
Think about it!
