“Give thanks to Yahweh, call on His name; proclaim His deeds among the peoples. Sing to Him, sing praise to Him; tell about all His wonderful works! Honor His holy name; let the hearts of those who seek Yahweh rejoice. Search for the Lord and for His strength; seek His face always. Remember the wonderful works He has done, His wonders, and the judgments He has pronounced,” Psalms 105:1-5
Remember. Remember? Remember to remember! The Bible tells us to remember approximently 137 times, depending on the translation you read from. 137 times God reminds us not to forget the things He’s done for us in the past.
Here, we’re told to give thanks to God, call upon His Name and proclaim His deeds! God had done innumerable things for the Israelites and He’s done innumerable things for us too! We’re further told to set His deeds to music! Doing so brings glory to His Name! We’re also told to rejoice in Him, knowing that if He’s done things for us in the past and if He’s done great things for our ancestors, SURELY HE’LL DO GREAT THINGS FOR US AS WELL!
Next, the Psalmest says, “let those who seek God rejoice”. The psalmist is infering that the source of our joy should be the fact that if we seek Him, we will FIND Him (Jeremiah 29:13)! He furthur admonishes us to search for the Lord and for His strength (which is, by far, superior to ours) and to SEEK IS FACE always (in other words, spend enough time with Him that we understand His ways, will and desires for our lives).
Finally, our psalmist tells us to REMEMBER. Remember the great things God did for you in the past! He then speands 40 verses reciting what God had done for Israel in the past!
What has God done for you? This fact alone is enough to give you faith and hope for the future! Seek Him today! Worship Him today! Call out to Him today! REMEMBER Him today! Watch Him move our your behalf today!
Think about it!
